Oggwyn Great left this review about The Bacchus

The old Bacchus was a decent size pub over 2 floors , over the years it gradually ran down untill finally closing a few years ago . A couple of years ago it was redeveloped in two halves , a barbers on one side and a cafe bar on the other , now the cafe bar has closed and been converted back to a pub .
It is long and narrow opening out towards the rear with a further room to the back , the bar is along the left as you enter , it is advertised as a Freehouse but has no Handpulls , lots of pulls for fizz and lots of bottled beer , i had half of Stowford(£1.60) served by the friendly barman , i was the only customer at 7.30 on a Friday night .

A bit of a change here , the old pub has been split into two , one half is a barbers the other a very trendy Cafe Bar , it has a good reputation for food but drinkers are welcome , no real ale but a selection of keg lagers , regular live music and the dreaded kareoke .

A bit untidy inside but it was friendly enough.

Recently refurbished , the back room has darts and a pool table , the front has a large TV and comfortable seating . 3 handpulls only 2 on Bankss Bitter and Riding Bitter which was pleasant enough . Service was friendly though it was pretty quiet in here for a Saturday afternoon . Its OK if not brilliant

ROB Camra left this review about The Bacchus

This pub is getting a bit shabby as were some of the clientele. It's mainly one room with another area to the rear that obviously used to be a separate room. There's a dartboard and a quiz machine in the rear area. There were 3 handpumps on the bar but only 2 in use selling Bank's bitter and Wychwood Wizards Staff. I ordered a pint of the Wychwood, fully expecting it to be a poor pint. Happily I was wrong and the pint was pretty good. It's not a great place but I've been in a lot worse places in Wellington (Black Horse, Rasputin's, Three Crowns, Pheasant to name but a few).
