Alan Winfield left this review about Royal Oak
The Royal Oak is a plain looking town pub that is opposite the The Swan pub at the bottom end of the high street.
Once inside the pub has two seperate rooms,i had a drink in the bar which was to the left, this room is square shaped, bare boarded and had comfy leather bench seating,,there is a darts board to the right and a TV to the front left, the lounge to the right is larger and iregular in shape, both rooms had a beamed ceiling.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Worthington cream which was a pretty poor drink, the other beer was the even worse Boddingtons Cream crap.
This is a decent enough pub just a shame about the lack of one real ale.
