Under new management, the traditionally decorated Locomotive has bars up the left and right-hand sides of the pub that are served by a central counter that supports standard and premium keg alongside five hand pumps that were unused due to “management transition”. In the rear are four dartboards and a pool table, this area is also used to host live music. The very friendly woman behind the bar informed me that many of the customers were lost under the previous management, and that money had been spent to make the pub enticing again. I must admit that I was surprised to find myself as the only customer because I thought the pub was decent, so I’m sure the re-introduction of cask ale will have people flooding back soon enough.

The Locomotive is a small looking corner pub that is in an area of terraced housing.
Once inside there were two small rooms,i went in the room to the left which was the lounge, this room had bench seating with small stools and wood tables, there was a dart board in the far left corner which was above the bench seating, there was a smaller bar to the right which was also carpeted but had leather bench seats, there were frames on the wall with pump clips in them, an island bar served both rooms and you could see through to either room.
There was a larger room to the rear which looked a bit bare, this had two pool tables in it.
The pub is a Marstons tied house and there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Marstons bitter which was quite a nice drink, the other beer was Hobgoblin.
There was a decent amount of older customers in on my mid afternoon visit.
I quite liked this pub.
