I used to drop into The Bridge after leaving the railway station on my way to Altrincham FC home games many years ago. Always a basic working man's pub, with a pool table and dartboard but no frills. A rarity in Altrincham nowadays. It used to be a Bass pub back then.

Sadly I heard today that the pub has been given notice of demolition for the impending Altair development which consist of mixed retail/restaurant and residential use plus a 3000 seater ice stadium. You can't replace pubs like The Bridge, they have the character of generations engrained within, surely these so called planners can develop without removing valuable community resources. A real shame.
