Strongers . left this review about The Black Cock
Steps from the passing street climb up to the entrance of the Black Cock that opens into a laminate floored bar where banquettes sit under the windows either side of the entrance and an L-shaped wooden serving counter sits in the centre of the rear wall adjacent to more banquette seating across the left rear. Steps to the left descend to a seating area with dart oche, but no board, although darts is advertised on the weekly events board where regular live entertainment from bingo to music is also mentioned. A couple of televisions in the bar area were airing muted Sky Sports while some background music from the last century played. Standard and premium keg were both available from the polite woman working behind the bar. There are also four hand pumps, three of which were in use drawing a decent pint of Hardy & Hansons Rock On alongside Sharps Fury and Pedigree. This is a small basic local boozer that maybe isn’t worth going out of the way for, but I’d be happy if I lived around the corner from a pub like this.
