Strongers . left this review about The Ashwood

The entrance of the Ashwood opens to a pool table that is faced by banquettes that run up the left-hand wall. The wooden serving counter runs across the front wall where it faces some tables and chairs along the rear. Either side of the counter are televisions that were airing sports television with sound while back music played off the jukebox. To the right of the counter is a stage that is used for the advertised regular live entertainment, banquettes run up the adjacent right-hand wall and across the rear. On the bar is a standard keg range alongside two banks of three hand pumps, one of which was in use drawing Doom Bar. I didn’t receive the friendliest of welcomes from the governor, but I engaged him again on the way out when he was a bit nicer. Not being a huge fan of live music, I doubt that I’ll ever visit here again.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Ashwood

The Ashwood is a typical 60s built estate pub that is hidden away just off anchor road on wood street.
Once inside i went into a longish room that was carpeted and had bench seating and small stools, the room seemed dimly lit.
There were 6 pumps on the bar all unclipped, the keg bitter was M&B Brew X1 which was a lot better than John Smiths smooth crap.
This is a locals pub but i was happy enough having a drink in here.
