A suburban or edge of town pub that has reopened after a short period of closure. I don't know if the battleship grey paint appeared following the closure, but it's not doing the building any favours. This was our last pub of the day, our sixth of six pubs in Wem, and we had been fretting about whether it would be open at 4pm as all online information suggested, as our train was timed for 16:30 and the the station is 10 minutes away. We needn't have worried as the door opened as we approached and we arrived gratefully inside bang on time. The new management seem keen on real ales, with four hand pumps on the bar, one with Timothy Taylor Landlord and the other three with beers from local New Brew, also known as Plan B, based in Newport a few miles away. I went for New Brew APA, a 4.1% American pale ale, which my notes tell me was NBSS 3.5, though being anxious to drink up and catch that train, I seem to have failed to commit any other characteristics to memory. I wish the new people running the pub every success, but for heaven's sake, get some decent paint on those walls.
