A few years ago this pub was a derelict shell , a major refurb (rumoured to be £2 million) later it is now an upmarket gastro pub in the Brunning and Price mould , it is one big open plan room with a central serving area , several distinct areas and a large snug make it feel more cosy than the barn it is , the walls are covered in a selection of framed pictures seemingly of random subjects (hunting scenes , old adverts , portraits etc ) along with a selection of clocks , fishing rods , hunting horns , pot plants and a few stuffed animals . 10 Handpulls (5 either side of the bar)serving 5 real ales , Speckled Hen , Ruddles County , Rowton Bitter , Hobsons Twisted Spire and the pubs own Fox And Hounds Gold (brewed by Greene King)which was OK . The pub is very food led and its not to bad but a bit pricey for the area , where its let down is the service , the staff seemed disintrested and like they would rather be somewhere else . Its OK i here but not as good as a B & P pub , in fact it lags far behind , needs to try harder
