This was once the Elephant and Castle , a pub with a notorious and at times humourous reputation , a former multi-roomed pub with a courtyard beer garden .
Along with nearby pubs the White Hart and Mardol Vaults this was a Rights of Passage pub for any teenager drinking in Shrewsbury in the 70s , 80s and early 90s , if you survived in here you could drink anywhere .
For many years this was the home pub for Shrewsbury Towns hooligan firm the EBF and was the scene of many large scale punchups .
The late 90s saw the pubs fortunes plummet with unsuccessfull attempts to change it to a music bar and even a lap dancing club , before finally closing and being turned into a shop .
A proper rough Bloodtub of a pub full of dodgy characters , i miss it .
