Back street pub buried away in a residential side street, and another one that was remarkably busy on a Saturday evening. Some kind of function going on in the lounge which meant perching on whatever seats we could find. It’s very charming in here with a jovial local atmosphere but I could do without the bluey grey paint splashed everywhere and slightly tacky decor with a few too many of those “seen it a million times” joke signs. Three Marstons beers on and my Sunbeam was fine but I was surprised to find it was comfortably our most expensive round of the weekend.

A friendly back street pub that can be a bit difficult to find. Real ale available and the small bar area is frequented by chatty locals.

An excellent back street boozer with loads of character and really well kept beer. The barman was really chatty for a Sunday lunch time and explained many of the little in house jokes and random stuff on the walls. It's a pity that this place isn't nearer the centre, you really have to search it out but it's well worth it.

This is a nice little locals pub in a residential area well away from the town centre. It has a comfortable lounge reached via a separate side entrance or through the bar. This was full when I visited as there appeared to be a meeting of some kind on. I had a drink in the tap room which has a dart board, fruit machine and a quiz machine. Three handpumps on each bar serving Pedigree, Brakspears Oxford Gold and Jennings Cockerhoop. Had a pint of the Oxford Gold which was excellent. It was pretty quiet in this room but everyone seemed friendly enough. I'll certainly call in again.
