Strongers . left this review about The Boars Head

A low white ceiling with black painted beams signals that the Boars Head is a pub of age. There’s seating to the left and right of the entrance and banquettes run up the left-hand wall. There’s a dartboard on the rear wall to the left of the serving counter that supports standard keg alongside San Miguel and a hand pump that was drawing Wainwright. A life-size cut-out of Luke Humphries stands guard by a second dartboard that is found adjacent to a fireplace on the right-hand wall. There is a jukebox, but this was off while World Cup football played on the televisions. Amazingly, there is a third dartboard that is found under a shelter out the back where there is ample parking. The service was polite, but there were no other customers during a recent Tuesday evening visit, so maybe the dart team was playing away or something.

ROB Camra left this review about Boars Head Hotel

When I called in this pub all the curtains were closed even though it was light which didn't make it look very inviting. Had a roaring log fire going in the hearth, over the mantlepiece is a black and white photo of a young George Best. Huge TV screen just to the right of the fireplace. A game of dominoes going in the corner and a large pub cat sprawled across two stools. Pedigree, Banks's Bitter & Original plus Jennings Snecklifter on the bar. Had a pint of the Jennings which was very nice. So far so good. Tried to talk to a couple of locals and the landlord, got blanked. It was a bit of a strange place and whilst leaning on the bar I overheard one of the locals say to his mate "You need to be careful what you're saying tonight, there's strangers in". Very dodgy. I didn't have a second pint even though it was a good pint as it really wasn't very welcoming
