Another striking half-timbered building, one of many in Ludlow with a grade II-listed 17th century façade to a pub dating from around 1385.
Recently well reviewed by ROB and therefore unchanged, with a rather stark interior but at least with two rooms displaying some old unpainted beams, pale grey colour scheme, a fine brick fireplace with décor in the form of eclectic prints and zero customers on my Sunday evening visit at 8.30.
A cask selection amounted to two unused pumps then Doom, Wye Valley’s Butty Bach and HPA, thereafter Three Tuns Bishop’s Castle, very nice at an expensive £2.20 a half, served by an understandably bored barman.
This place is ok for a beer, but as mentioned, it’s not in Ludlow’s top echelon of quality hostelries.

Originally two buildings, this has been broken through into a large pub. The black and white timbered outside looks impressive, but not so much inside where it's been modernised, although it's still a good looking space. Very food led during the day, but we called in on a Sunday night when food service stops at 4. Down to 4 handpumps on the bar now with mainly local beers plus Doom Bar. My pint of Wye Valley HPA was in good nick and Ms CAMRA says the wine was fine. A decent enough pub, but not in the top echelons in Ludlow which is blessed with several gems.

A two room pub with a decent looking bar area as you enter and slightly noisier lounge, with families bringing their children in for lunch. Still they did have 6 handpumps serving Shropshire Gold, Hobsons Best, Three Tuns XXX, Wye Valley HPA, Butty Bach and Doombar. I went for the Hobsons, which was in good shape.

A very nice looking pub and the interior isn't too bad. The servery is to your right on entering and here you will find 6 handpulls. Sadly the beer choice isn't particularly good with Tetleys Cask, Doom Bore, a couple of Wye Valley beers.

Another pub with a nice exterior but a let down when you go in just a small bar area then to your left a very big dinning area.
