Formerly under GK's clutches if Blackthorn_'s 2013 photos are anything to go by, this now pleasingly appears to be a free house, with a slant on food (I was told the WiFi code was a variation of 'great food') as well as locAles, with Loddon's Hoppit and Vale Something Wicked on the stumps, with a third clip reversed (I couldn't make it out). Further locAle clips were on display behind the bar from other local breweries such as ABC, Hook Norton, Shotover and XT. Looks-wise, externally it's made of the ubiquitous Cotswold stone and is a two-roomer, with dining area to the left on entry and a generous bar area to the right. Decor is unfussed with woody tables and chairs, flagstone floor, pale walls with third-height panelling all around. Lounge Jazz-style music played in the background from a Deezer account, including a cover version of Nirvana's 'Heart-Shaped Box'. Dead on my Sunday arvo visit: the calm before the storm as they were due to host a Bonfire BBQ (the bonfire was located on the triangular green opposite the pub). Had a nice chat with the owners who seemed a nice bunch. One of the better 'in the sticks options' in and around the Witney area.
