UPDATE:
I've seen this pub go from traditional boozer serving pub grub to gastro pub to "a little from column A, a little from column B", and the latest incarnation is now as a sports bar, so screens, pool tables dartboards and fruit machines abound. The doors to the left I mentioned back in 2017 have gone and the room houses 2 x pool tables and there was a solitary ale on, despite there still being 3 x pumps: an 'Acceptable' Ringwood Forty Niner for £5.50. With The Spire & Spoke sating the real ale/coffee, cake and pizza set and The Chequers sating the pub-cum-Asian restaurant set, fair play to them for diversifying, but don't say I haven't warned you.

An inn for the well-heeled - now the only pub on the B4009 which runs through the village when there used to be several. Brakspear Bitter and Oxford Gold the only options from four handpumps (one unclipped, one with Marstons 61 Deep reversed). This is a nice spot, and the food is good - there's also a drawing room-type area through a set of doors to the left they open up if busy. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but it still operates as a pub and with three left in the town, it still needs this option.
