Pretty ancient coaching inn with a nice courtyard entrance area (as well as a door on the main street). Low beamed bar. Large inglenook fireplace containing a wood burning stove. A bit of atmosphere though more akin to a micro, upmarket Spoons I thought with punters mainly older gents. Oldies radio, with one local singing along in a manner that won't be bothering Britain's Got Talent any time soon. Three ales, all Rebellion: IPA, Smugglers, Zebedee (fair). Nice enough place.

Very old coaching inn and at the front at any rate many of the old features survive. It's surprisingly pubby for a hotel bar attracting a mixed bag of regulars and tourists. The courtyard is quite pleasant on a summer's evening and it could all be rather atmospheric given a bit of imagination.
Being a hotel it's quite dear and all there was was Director's in poor shape the last time I went in. The George's catering has had a dreadful reputation for years.
