UPDATE
Changed hands at the end of 2025 when the previous incumbents, having served 20 years decided to retire. Now taken on by a local couple, normal service has been resumed, with a barely-noticeable spruce-up internally, but some boxed-in seating out front which bore fruit with the more than clement weather experienced during the summer of 2026. No more bar billiards but an increase in the amount of handpumps from three to four, all dispensing HN brews. Super pint of Mild (NBSS = Very Good) and an OK-ish 2.5% Lock Steady (NBSS = Good) on a Sunday arvo visit: the Mild was £4.30, but the Lock Steady was £5.50(?) Quality normally better than not if Camra's new CE website is anything to go by (it currently has a 3-glass score) and I stand by my suggestion that any crawl of Thame should begin here.

On the outer reaches of Thame's town centre this was taken over around 10 years ago by an all-female team who are pleasingly still in situ and are a Hook Norton house - North Oxon beers in a South Oxon town. An extended staple-shape internally, there's bench seating out front with plenty of breweriana inside and a bar billiards table in a nook in the staple end to the bar's left. Landlady Paula is a convivial host and of the three Hooky beers available - Gold, Old Hooky and Haymaker - the latter was tip-top and a bargain at £2.95 for a pint in this increasingly desirable part of the world. If you're planning a crawl of Thame, make sure you start here.
