Now under the ownership of Ember Inns, the internal staple-shape layout remains with the bar abutting out from the left centre and serving a small area from the front entrance, a main bar area opposite, and larger area to the rear. Hungry Horse-style garish interior styling, but fair play on the ale front with 'Ember Pale Ale', West Berks GOB, TT Landlord, St Austell Proper Job, Titanic Plum Porter (£1.85 a half) and Titanic Hophead 'settling in the cellar'. Also two handpump ciders in the form of Rosie's Pig and Thistly Cross and an offer of all cask ales for £2.49 a pint on Mondays. Less TV screens now, but still a couple showing a match on loud, so slightly unnecessary. A vast improvement however.

Vies with (and probably beats) The Duke of Monmouth on Oxford's Abingdon Road for the award for most TV screens in one establishment. Part of the Pizza Kitchen Bar chain, but none the better for it; a lunchtime visit saw the usual characters that populate the pubs in the satellite towns of Oxford at that time of day, and a bowl of nachos was served unnervingly quickly; with half of the portion consisting of dry, salted tortilla chips once the top layer had been consumed. Little to stand out from the rather lacklustre affairs Kidlington has to offer.
