Blue Scrumpy left this review about George & Dragon
The George at Upton as it is now known has 3 rooms inside. Entering from the side, after you've left the toilets behind (including the gender neutral one), there is a rather strange dining area which you move through to the front bar. Beyond that is a further small dining area. A garden has a large children's play area. There were certainly plenty of kids present. In fact, there were almost as many kids as adults. Dogs are also welcome.
Dried hops around the walls gave a nice feel to the bar area, but I wasn't too impressed that the barmaids were more intent on washing glasses and stacking shelves to bother serving customers. I was almost on the verge of walking back out. Cask ales on were the house beer Loddon George Best, Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter & Timothy Taylor Landlord. A Timothy Taylor Boltmaker handpull had a "coming soon" sign on it and a 5th handpull had a turned clip which I could not identify. Beavertown Neck Oil was on keg.
I found it difficult to warm to this one. Kids in pubs is always a controversial subject. Personally, I don't normally object. But there were too many here. Combined with the take it or leave it service, I couldn't recommend it. However, it clearly serves a purpose for a certain customer base.

Another GK charge about a half mile from West Hagbourne's Horse & Harrow, this also has the old green and gold GK livery and has a lean to the food side despite a clutch of locals surrounding the larger of the two bars on my Sunday arvo visit. This is an oldish roadside building which still has exposed wood and a bare-boarded floor and looks to have resisted a Meet & Eat / Hungry Horse reinvention. Dining in a room to the left on entry, with a decent bar area in the room to the right with four further dining tables up a couple of steps to the far right. Ales limited to Sharp's Doom Bar, Abbot Ale and Morland Original - the half of the latter surprisingly punchy and well-kept for £1.85. I've been in a lot worse pubs, and a pierced and tattooed barmaid was the model of politeness, so straight down the middle for this one.
