A twee country pub a stone's throw from GWR's Cotswold Line. Probably two-roomed in a previous incarnation with a possible Jug & Bottle aperture facing you on entry, the centre bar serves both small rooms and the focus is predominantly in dining, with people of a certain age doing just that on both sides during my Sunday lunchtime visit. Sofas hem a large fireplace in the right-hand room with various framed West End show flyers and photos on the walls, the remaining handful of tables set out and occupied for dining. Ryuichi Sakamoto's 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' played in the background and the three ales on were Hobgoblin, Hobgoblin Gold and Goffs Jouster (at £1.75 a half). The function room which adjoins the main building and abuts the car park has a sign that declares it was opened by David Cameron (former MP for this area) in 2014.
