Strongers . left this review about The Angel

The Angel has a table in the windows either side of the central entrance and an exposed stone inglenook on the left-hand wall, in fact the walls throughout are mostly exposed stone. The serving counter is found midway along the right-hand wall where it faces a beer shelf up the left. More seating is found at the rear around a large stone fireplace. I counted six hand pumps on the counter, three were unused and one was off which left Pentrich Brewing’s Little Windmill and Vale Brewery’s Wychert as the cask options. Standard keg and two from Beavertown were also available from the polite barman. The Wychert was a good crawl option at 3.9%, but I struggled to get comfortable so don’t plan on returning.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Angel

The Angel is home to the Bicester Brewery and with 6 handpulls, I was expecting this to be the best pub in the town. Unfortunately, there was only a single real ale. This was Loddon Ferryman's Gold, which was not really my cup of tea. But I tried it regardless.

Trade here must be pretty poor, given the lack of ales. Nevertheless, service was friendly. I didn't get much further than the space near the front door. So, I'm not sure how far the pub stretched back. Supposedly, there is an outdoor area at the rear.

A disappointing visit.

Recently refurbished and brews its own beer (Bicster brewery). Done inside to a good standard, it's modern but has some character and is light and bright. The main bar area has an old inglenook off to the left with bay window bench seating also. The rear area is undressed stone with another fireplace. The brewery is located in old stables to the rear along with a bottle shop and compacted pebble garden. Note the old water pump here. Six pumps with four on: Loddon, XT Animal, Purity UBU and Bicester Pale. Had a half of the latter which wasn't a particularly brilliant beer but was in decent nick. Scatty barman forgot my change. Very quiet on my Saturday afternoon visit - hope it succeeds though, I think it has only been in this guise for a short period.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Angel Inn

Old pub dating from 17th-century retaining a two-room layout and features such as the extended cantilever sign but refurbished inside in a semi-modern style. The main bar at the front is a compact affair with plenty of old beams and columns, and the slightly larger back bar houses a pool table. Doom Bar and 6X (£3.40) from the pair of handpumps.
