Komakino . left this review about The Chequers Inn
A roadside gastropub which has recently changed hands this is heavy on the eating side as you can imagine and the clink of cutlery was an established part of the background noise during my brief visit. A rectangular room inside with open fireplace on the left, booth and table seating opposite and to the right of the rear-walled bar with some pub bench seats inbetween. There's also a raised area as you enter solely for dining. Three ales at the jump - Abingdon Bridge Loose Cannon, The Chequers Pawn King and The Chequers Burcot Best - the latter two GK rebadges. Apparently they are a free house but are sourcing their beers through GK for the time being. The Loose Cannon was OK, a half served in a mini-jug and £2.25 for the privilege. There was a bit of a wait for service with Bloody Mary orders beating me to the jump meaning I had to watch mixology skills for a good five minutes before being served, but the internal surrounds are pleasant enough and for a gastropub, it felt inclusive enough.
