A local Southwell drinkers pub a five minute walk out from the main high street. Inside the pub it is quite dated and worn but has an old school rustic charm to it. There are four hand pulls on the bar with three available in the form of Mallard duck and dive, wells Bombadier and Doombar. The duck and dive was averagely kept but a little hazy but was actually a very nice drink which i would imagine would be fantastic is kept in tip top shape and probably the best priced of the Southwell pubs at £3.20. there was a nice outside sun trap beer garden to enjoy on our visit which was a very nice place to be if you catch the weather. This place is ok for a drink if around the village.

This is a fairly basic local with white painted walls and wooden-backed bench seating. The beer selection has improved a little since Ray's visit: JohnSmiths is still available, but now the six hand pumps have three others as well. On my visit these were Fullers London Pride, Ruddles and Mallard Duck 'n Dive. I tried a pint of the latter, but wished I'd just asked for my usual half (I was thirsty after a long cycle ride, which affected my judgment), because the beer was tainted with yeast bite. It wasn't so bad that it was undrinkable, and rather than get into a debate with the barman about the technicalities of brewing I decided to drink up and move on. I wouldn't let this experience rule out a future visit.

I thought this pub looked very appealing from the outside, with it's faced brick and Georgian sash windows. The interior was carpeted and the bar is facing you as you enter. The landlord and locals were friendly enough. The downside for me was such a handsome place with it's drab selection of ales, well actually one, which was John Smiths Cask.

The Reindeer is a smallish bare brick built pub that is a couple of minutes walk from the middle of Southwell.
Once inside we went into a smartish room at the front, this room was fairly well furnished and if we had had more time it would be a decent pub to sit and relax in,we did'nt have that much time in here as the pub was closing at 3.00.
There was one real ale on the bar this was John Smiths cask and this was a very nice drink.
