Nice back street boozer just off the main road and near the local tram stop. this pub is easily overlooked as it is very hard to see due to the nearby construction sites boards that block it from plain view.
This is a quiet locals pub with a very relaxed and fairly friendly atmosphere, the barmaid while very young was very nice and helpful.
There are no real ales available but have been a few years ago. there was at least one hand pump unused on my visit.
There was a choice of Tetleys bitter or Mild both on keg and I opted for the mild at something under £2.50, this was quite a nice drink.
the pub has a very old classical interior and is very comfortable, a nice place to sit and have a quiet drink in. If they could introduce a few well kept ales and promote the pub to the local population a bit more (a lot of local people I know are either unaware of the pub or presume it has closed down) then this could be very good place.
Update April 2017**
Strangely the only pub other than a wetherspoons that sells the new Bud Light. No Mild anymore and Guinness stone cold and tasteless at £3.40. Has potential but has no funding or vision my management whatsoever and is slowly dwindling like the rest around here.

The Old Pear Tree is a largish three storey stand alone pub that looks fairly old from the outside.
Once inside the pub had a few different rooms, the lounge looked quite smart and cosy and the bar was also a fairly nice room to have a drink in.
This pub used to be an Home Ales tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Home bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Home mild.
I have only been in this pub a few times but i quite liked having a drink here.
I think this pub is still up and running but i dont know what beers are now on here.
