Navigation is a modern waterside bar on the ground floor of what I assumed to be an old warehouse. The wooden flooring and exposed brick arches give the feel of a cellar bar. Large windows look out onto the River Trent and along the riverbank is a thin patio. The three hand pumps were drawing St Austell’s Tribute, Pheasantry’s PA Pale Ale and Seacider. Premium keg was also available alongside Beavertown’s Neck Oil. There is a tapas and burger menu, the latter being priced at £12. Live music is held here on Fridays and Saturdays, but be warned that the doors don’t open until 16:00 and they close at 22:00 during the week. This is the sort of place I’d go to with the wife.

Well laid out pub with a lot of room. Trouble is there was no real ale worth taking about but could be worth a revisit to see if that has changed.

The Navigation Waterfront is a modern bar in an old waterside building.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room with the bar on the right side, the room is bare boarded and has a very low ceiling,so i was very carefull when walking to the bar and back.
The seating is normal tables and chairs and a few settees.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Newark Best which was ok but a bit on the bland side, the other beers noted were Everards Tiger Bitter,Deuchars IPA and Bombardier.
The pub has views of the River Trent but not the locks but of dredgers sonot has good as the Waters Edge.
Background music was playing.
This pub seemed more intimate than the Waters Edge but i did prefer the Waters Edge to this one.

This pub was to be on our crawl round Newark on the 18th February but we were informed that it had closed down.

Good all round pub with 3 or 4 real ales. Everards ales being the main ones. This pub benefits from being directly on the riverside with large windows looking out over the water. At the front there is a large enclosed cobbled patio area which is a great suntrap where you can sit outside and enjoy your beer on a spring morning. Sunday nights is livened up with local groups - small admission charge.
