The Swan is a long pub with raised seating along the front windows before steps down to the bar area where the serving counter runs up the left-hand wall where it faces some thick supporting pillars, on the other side of which area seating areas. Towards the rear and beyond the bar area are some more steps that descend to a rear area that houses a pool table, photobooth and DJ booth that is found in the left rear corner. The other two customers present during a recent Monday evening visit were playing pool, so I was sat alone in a large pub surrounded by televisions that were airing muted Sky Sports cricket while some background music played. I was looking for somewhere to settle in to watch the Brentford match, but I decided that this weekend orientated pub wasn’t going to be the place and moved on.

This may well have been a coaching in at one time, and externally it's quite an impressive building still. Once inside though it's just another modern town centre drinking hall, with any semblance of original rooms lost in the myriad expansions and extensions that the last few decades have inflicted. Clearly this is not my sort of pub, but there was at least a couple of real ales available, Marstons Pedigree and Banks's Sunbeam. The Pedigree was in good nick, but not so good that I'll be clamouring to make a return visit.
