This pub is listed on Camra's inventory of heritage interiors, but to my eye there's nothing very special about it, and I thought the White Swan was equally well preserved, with some better period features. Activity was confined to a central room labelled saloon, with a couple of dining rooms to left and right. I got the impression these were out of action, and there's a sign on one wall advertising Sunday lunch, which appears to be the only food offering at the present time. A pool table occupies a fair bit of the sole room in use, with the bar counter in a corner opposite. There were four or five hand pumps, but only one beer on, the local Welbeck Abbey Cavendish, a 5% pale beer which was in good condition but with too much sherbet about it for my palate. The main feature of note was the bench seating, which looked to be in good condition and well upholstered, and with contrasting cushions too. This pub feels a bit run down, but maybe I'd have got a better impression at a busier time than a Monday afternoon.
