Smart roadside inn, clean and highly polished. To the left is a restaurant area, to the right a very salubrious little bar, with traditional yet immaculate furnishings. At the rear is a patio area and holiday lets in outbuildings. Ales on were Hadrian Tyneside Blonde, Black Sheep Best and GNE Golden Tap, which proved to be well below par. The place might have been tidy, but it was all a bit soulless and the duff beer confirms a lower score than it ought to have.

My Allendale Summer Ale was superb, the barmaid was pleasant, but not over engaging as she spent more time in the kitchen flirting with the chef who was busy with the OAPS Thursday special menu. The interior of the pub was modern with painted walls and brown leatherette chairs, four to each table in both rooms, very clinical in my opinion. The front lounge had an inglenook fireplace with stove, at least something of interest.
