Fairly upmarket pub in the village of Bamburgh. This was my first visit to Bamburgh and I was very impressed by its Castle which overlooks the village.
I wasn't quite so impressed by this pub. The front rooms arranged around the bar do have some nice wood panelling and wallpaper. The large rear room is designed for diners, but most were dining in the front sections. There is also an outdoor area to the rear.
Staff are smartly dressed and the toilets are immaculate. Free wifi is available. Children and dogs are allowed in. It's a pub that is clearly marketed towards visitors to Bamburgh. Even the 2 cask ales from Alnwick have been re-named for the pub, with their Amber & IPA badged here as Lord Armstrong Amber & Bamburgh (Bebbanburg) IPA. The cider was Aspall's Blush. I opted for the IPA, which was fairly ordinary.
This pub can currently be found in the Good Beer Guide. I do like Bamburgh, but I'm wondering if one of the other pubs here is potentially better than this one.

Two bars and a separate restaurant in this village centre pub, there are three in the village but this one is in the GBG 2024. The front door leads left to the bar and right to a lounge, they have a single servery with two counters but the rooms link at the rear. There are no taps or pulls in the lounge. Beyond the bar is a fairly big restaurant in an extension. Two pulls and two quad T-bars provide the beer choice, one cask on from Scottish brewery Born although house badged as Bamburgh Amber, kegs from Molson Coors plus Guinness. Beer quality good to middling. Decor is a mix of new old pub and corporate pub but comfortable enough. There’s a screen on a music channel in the bar. The bar is a room of two halves with the front being elegant Georgian while the back is exposed brick and dodgy artex ceiling, nice reproduction art nouveau fire place though.

Really liked this place, friendly atmosphere, good food (popular at tea time so tables were at a premium) and Black Sheep and Greene King Abbot Ale on cask all reasonably priced.
