Handsome stone building, named for the owners of nearby Althorp, that was once a coaching inn, well, so it is said, there are lots of places that claim to have been coaching inns in places where it's difficult to believe coaches aver ran. It's now a GK Chef and Brewer and any history inside has long since been ripped out.
Most of it is, as usual for this format, laid up for eating. There is a non-eating bit to the right clustered around a fireplace, with, as is usual for this format, furnished so that you have to perch a metre or more above the floor. We declined to perch a metre or more above the floor and unlaid one of the many unoccupied tables. There's a terrace commanding views of the huge car park.
Anyway you know the form, nothing to see here, but a couple of plus points: tip top TT Landlord (the other choice was GKIPA); and thankfully they're resisted the temptation to indulge in Lady Di nonsense.
