Yes, this surely is a massive pub converted from a former bank. Its now owned by Greene King and I am guessing been smartened up a bit from the previous reviews. Now groups of four handpumps on the bar with three from the GK stable on for my visit. These were Abbot, London Glory and IPA doubled up on two pumps. A decent pub and the impressive ceiling and chandeliers are still in place. But I got the impression this one tries to appeal to the younger demographic with drinks offers, lots on gin options and disco’s advertised for Friday and Saturday night with late closing hours.
But also good for the sport with one very large pull-down screen and plenty of other flat screens that actually are not obtrusive in a pub this side and although there was quite a few in on this lunchtime the size makes it still comfortable and it was a good choice for a pre match town centre pint before strolling down to Franklin Gardens. Especially as the pubs nearer the ground were heaving when we went past.

This is a massive pub, obviously converted from a bank. So the ceiling is quite ornate, but the rest lacks a bit of character. It's all very comfortable and there are several alcoves for a bit more privacy. There's a raised area with high tables and stools to one side and 2 pool tables, a dartboard and a quiz machine to the rear. At the back there's a very large beer garden. There are several massive screens and they advertise that they have Sky & BT Sport. 3 handpumps on the bar with 2 on which were Oakham JHB and Dow Bridge Gladiator. The Gladiator was a good pint served by a friendly barman. The CAMRA discount offered made this a bargain £2.62 per pint. I'd happily call in here again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Bank
Large, but very plain, bank conversion with limited decor and dull furniture. Further seating area upstairs (not visited). Just two handumps, offering Hobgoblin and Frog Island Glory Days (£2.70, plus, unusually for an Original Pub Co outlet, a 10% discount for Camra members). (NB - Review dates from August 2012.)
