A basic two-roomer down the road from the recently-demised Queen Victoria this keeps funny opening times, so a Sunday lunchtime visit was probably a safe bet to see it in action. Some letters on the signplate had disappeared which didn't give a good outward appearance, but it was indeed open. The entrance is accessed via a narrow courtyard to the right of the building. The front room which looks out onto the High Street was in darkness and out of use on my visit: the room out back, rectangular in shape, had a clutch of locals in, seated in and around the small bar. An area towards the end of the room housed a pool table, dartboard and Northamptonshire Skittles table with a board in between the latter two headed "Eykyn Arms Skittle And Social Club". A conservatory-style lean-to housed some additional seating and led to the Ladies' and Gents' facilities. No ale on this visit that I could espy, although the weather precluded the enjoyment of it, so I had a pint of Strongbow Cider for £3.30. (Later on, looking through the outside window into the front bar, I spotted a GK IPA pump clip) This was perhaps a little too local for my liking, although I was left to my own devices during my stay, and not for the first time, I was the youngest by far. There are better pubs in and around the area, so unless you're a completest, give this one a miss. It scores a 4 for the range of games more than anything.
