The Black Horse is a small local’s boozer located south of the A14 in Cold Ashby. I was supposed to be on the A14, but a missed turning meant that I passed here by chance on a recent Thursday evening. The interior consists of a small bar with pool table to the right of the entrance and a larger bar with a dartboard to the left. Both bars have a plasma screen for airing Sky Sports. A standard keg range was available alongside cask Adnams Southwold.
Out the back is a beer garden and there is also a car park. This pub doesn’t open until 18:00 during the week. The very friendly woman working the jump informed me that most of the locals don’t get in until late, there were only two people in just before 21:00. I would be more than happy if this friendly boozer was my local.
