The Weldon Brewery seems to have long since moved on from these premises. Handpulls have been removed from the bar, leaving a keg selection of Heineken, Guinness, Cruzcampo, Neck Oil, Strongbow, Fosters, Moretti & Amstel.

There is a large front bar which was busy on our Sunday evening visit. A few people were there for the food and there were plenty of dogs. Kids are also welcome. We were invited to have a table in a rear room, but were also offered seats at a shared table, which we chose instead. Live FA Cup football was being shown on a TV.

The pub now appears to be either Serbian or Croatian owned. The Balkan soft drink Cockta always raises a few eyebrows when displayed at a certain angle in the fridges. It was duly noted here. With no keg beers appealing to me here, I opted for an Irn Brew!

There's no real appeal to this pub nowadays, but it does still seem to be a focus for the local community, for both food and drinks.

Enjoyed our visit to this friendly locals pub which features in the 2919 Good Beer Guide. There were 3 Weldon brewery beers on and one from Purple Cow, and we enjoyed our Weldon Blackberry Porter and Weldon Stahlstadt.

Home of the Weldon microbrewery, this large pub has the look of a village institute or club, with the large room at the front recently converted from smaller rooms providing an almost hall-like space. There were six hand pumps but just three beers on at the time of our visit, only one of these being their own: Dragline. The other two were from Oakham Brewery (Green Devil and Red Macaw). There were a few locals in, but it was fairly quiet for early Sunday afternoon. Not really my sort of place, with the tables and chairs too regularly spaced giving a school dining room feel, and a TV set in the corner showing music videos, which is something I can do without.
