Whitby Way is a short but wide Greene King pub with a central serving counter across the rear that supports standard keg alongside Birra Moretti and two hand pumps, one of which was in operation drawing GK’s False Nine. To the left of the counter is some seating and a raised area that could be a stage for the advertised regular karaoke. There are more nights with karaoke than without, thankfully I lucked out because Monday evening is one of the quieter nights, but then again the young loud local women in attendance were putting some horrendous pop tunes on the jukebox which was cranked up to full volume. More seating is found to the right of the counter where ammonia from the long since cleaned toilets bit at the nostrils. The service was polite and Olympics coverage was on the televisions throughout, but I’ll not be returning.

Sports bar, now called The Whitby Way, trendy signage featuring the whale bone emblem.
5 real ales, standards mainly from the owners, Greene King.
Long thin room, bar running along one side and an end corner seating as well as high benches fronting the bar.
Recently refurbed, ok

I sometimes go in here mid afternoon for a pint of Cask Tetley's and sit next to the window and watch the world go by. The lounge is in traditional style but has a pool table, which sometimes spoils the effect when its in use.
