A welcoming, traditional stone pub just off Gargrave's main street.
Inside it feels comfortable and lived but not grubby. You walk directly into the bar area with the counter in front of you. To the right is a fireplace with real fire throwing out a welcome glow on our visit with various tables scattered around. If you have dogs then this is where you're directed. To the left is more of a restaurant area with a few takers on our visit.
The menu is extensive with everything from well thought out pub food, such as an especially enticing fish finger sandwich, to more substantial dishes such as pork belly with black pudding, bacon and mustard mash. This latter was possibly the best meal I've ever eaten in a pub and great value at under a tenner. Everything is home cooked and the chef is happy to accomodate requests. A class act on the food front.
The beer was marginally less inspiring with the following on: TT Landlord, Thwaites Wainwright, Black Sheep and Tetleys. The Landlord though was in top condition.
A very nice pub with a warm welcome and good food. I'd happily slide in for Landlord again.
