Will Larter left this review about Helwith Bridge Inn
Traditional Dales inn with the public bar to the rear and entered from the car park. The original bar area has been extended and also has a small dining room off it, and a games room beyond. There are six hand pumps on the bar with, at the time of our visit, four beers available (a rebadged house beer from Marstons, Timothy Taylor Landlord, former-Thwaites-now-Marstons Wainwright and Wensleydale Sema' Water) plus one from Pennine being pulled through while we were here. The Wensleydale beer is named Sema' to try to make clear to non-locals that this is how you are meant to pronounce Semer Water, the lake near Bainbridge (not seamer, like a fast bowler, but sem-a.) The pronunciation guide has stuck with me, but any memory of what the beer was like has long since vanished. Customers seemed to be a mix of locals and visitors, and the landlord seemed enthusiastic about his beers, though I was surprised to see as many as five on in the middle of winter in such an out of the way place. There must be some dedicated drinkers in these parts.
