A busy pub in the back streets between the town centre and the Morrisons supermarket. It looks modern on the outside, but some of the rooms have been fitted out with old style wood panelling and a fireplace. The three hand pumps had two pump clips reversed, but the lass who is running the place told me the last of the Courage Directors and Brains Rev James had been pulled the night before and she had to clean the lines before putting another beer on. I had a half of Guinness which wasn't too cold (£4.60/pint) and found a pleasant corner near the fireplace (don't know if it's functional, but it wasn't needed today anyway). I wouldn't mind coming back here if I could coincide with a cask beer being available.

The original building has been extended and knocked about inside to leave a chain pub with little character. There are two wings to the interior,to the right there is some decent wood paneling, but to the left modern furniture,a pool table and a sterile feel.Marstons are aiming at the cheap pub grub market here, but seem to have cheaper customers, while the three handpumps were offering Wychwood Hobgoblin,Banks's Bitter and Brakspear Bitter,an unexciting choice from their portfolio of brewers.Mine was a brief visit.

As described below, a large single room but with a mixture of areas. Has a modern feel, however there are some nice touches if you look closely, like the splendid carved lintel. Draught beers at time of visit were EPA and Pedigree, with a Hobgoblin not on. The Pedigree was acceptable but not in great condition, despite Cask Marque listing

The Abbey Vaults is a large pub that is situated to the shops,so very handy for shoppers wanting a drink.
Once inside there is a very large single room which is irregular in shape, the room runs the width of the pub,the bar faces on entry.
The seating is bench type and normal tables and chairs, there is also a pool table to the far left, the TVs were showing horse racing.
The pub is an ex Mansfied tied house, so it is now a Marstons house, there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Banks's Bitter which was a decent drink, the other beer was Pedigree.
The pub was packed on my Saturday afternoon visit.
There is nothing special about this pub,but it does seem to be very popular with Selbys drinkers.
