Perfectly positioned at the top of the village, overlooking the green. Would be wonderful on a summer's day.
Accomodation: Not obvious that my room was no en suite on booking but I had the shared bathroom to myself.
Food: Excellent value for money and service.
Beer: Timothy Taylor Golden Best, Black Sheep and North Yorkshire Moors from Cropton Brewery.

Staying in the nearby publess village of Lockton, I wasn't sure whether to walk here or use my bike. A glance at the contours decided me in favour of the former, there being a steep descent and ascent on the way there, which were inevitably repeated in reverse on the way back. Once there, the pub looked very attractive, an impression enhanced by the presence of three hand pumps on the bar, featuring Cropton Yorkshire Moors, Black Sheep Bitter and Timothy Taylor Golden Best. A few Cropton beers were also available in bottles at the same price as a pint, which was £3.60. Service was friendly, but when I sought a table to sit at I could only find a place directly beneath a loudspeaker - there was one in every corner, churning out pop music at an unavoidable volume. One of the servers suggested a table which had just been vacated and which she cleared for me, but even here the constant pop music was inescapable. I decided that even though it was getting dark I would sit outside, and on the way there went for a bottle to take back to the hostel in Lockton. As I was stood at the bar to purchase one, the landlady started to sing along to the music: inevitably the song was Can't Get You Out of My Head.
