A superb village pub with a fairly affluent client base that still manages to be a comfortable local. There are two large bars, though only one of them seemed to be open on our 2 visits over 2 days. It has a large garden which backs onto the river, and there is a small car park which can be tight to park in. The interior has been modernised but has kept a lot of its character, the pub dating from the 17th Century. The young staff were all extremely helpful and cheerful, while the locals were a friendly bunch. Ales on were Abbott, GK IPA, Nene Valley’s Big Bang Theory and Milestone Olde English. The ales were in excellent condition as we proved through repeated quality control and accepting the offer of sampling before buying. It was all very good natured, and we shall certainly be visiting this joint again next time we’re in the area.

A real find, great menu with delicious dishes and fantastic desserts. Very good service and nice atmosphere. I fear the locals were not impressed that we had discovered their hidden gem but we fully intend to return, the food is worth suffering the occasional questioning glances.
