Busy pub in the centre of the village. As with the Board Inn a couple of doors up, no food was being served, which perhaps explained why the White Hart had been so busy with diners. It seems the Fountain and the Board only serve food during the peak summer season. Nevertheless, the Fountain was busy and we found just about the last table in the house.
The pub appears to be popular with dog owners and also a couple who clearly were enjoying their vantage point at the window where they were watching the goings on along the main street with intent and providing a running commentary and creating their own gossip with each passing person. It wouldn't surprise me if they're in there every day doing exactly the same thing. Others were watching a live FA Cup football match.
4 real ales were Theakston Best Bitter, Wensleydale Gamekeeper, Yorkshire Dales Butter Tubs & Theakston Best Bitter.

Visited yesterday (Thursday) around lunch time. It was quiet but that was presumably as a result of there being a sign saying no bar meals were available that day. Unlike some of its neighbours it doesn't have the benefit of outside seating, which also may not have helped as it was a fairly nice day. Anyway the pub being quiet meant no delay being served and I was able to get my pick of the seats.
At the bar are five hand pulls for real ale offering McCarthy's Stout (Yorkshire Dales Brewing), Butter Tubs (Yorkshire Dales Brewing), Falconer (Wensleydale), Theakston Best Bitter and Black Sheep Best Bitter.
A family room, pub games, big screen and dining area are advertised as being "thru' the back" though I didn't investigate. There is a smart device charging station.
My McCarthy's Stout was rather pleasant and set me back either £1.70 or £1.75 for a half.
I would agree with Jon B's statement in the previous review and say this is the best pub in Hawes.

in my opinion this is comfortably the best and friendliest pub in Hawes - unpretentious, great ale, just a proper good pub. A great place to relax, chat and drink. The McCartney Stout was in great form and decent value for this area.

One of several pubs (and ex-pubs) in a row on one side of the main street through Hawes, this one has a hotel entrance on the left and the bar entrance in the corner between the two parts of the building. Once inside there's a decent sized bar counter at the back with a pleasant seating area stretching towards the front of the pub where there's a large bay window. A group of locals were playing cards to the right of the bar, to the accompaniment of some fairly loud music and a cricket match on the TV with the sound off.
On the bar were five hand pumps with the fairly conventional Theakstons and Black Sheep augmented by three beers from Yorkshire Dales and Wensleydale breweries (see photo). I went for the Drovers Arms, a beer I've had before at the pub in nearby Askrigg which plays the part of the Drovers in a TV series (whose name escapes me). Anyway, a very pleasant dark bitter that was in excellent condition and went down a treat.
