i was there a few weeks ago. landlord is sorted. a good laugh and very informative. the staff are very accomodating and friendly. willing to help families and do rooms at the last minute to meet needs of families. prices of beers and shorts are of standard to inner town/city prices on the east coast. known this pub since i was a kid. i shall be going back to see the landlord whom i found very plesent and friendly. the meals are of top quality. reccomended to any 1. rating of pub is 8/10.

we have just had the worst stay in a b&b, the bed had a hardboard on the base, the mattress was dreadful, the springs were poking through, and very uncomfortable, no radiator at all in the room, also as it was not en suite, the bathroom and toilet were dreadful, only a hook on the doors, which kept springing back, so other users didnt know if they were occupied or not. the bath had not been changed for years and the grouting was mouldy, the shower had no presure at all, and was just a trickle. the door in the corridor was that bad another guest put a pillow to wedge it open as it was swingin open and banging shut all night. breakfast was also a let down, the food was well bresented and cooked well, but a 40 minute wait after the cereal, and we had to ask for everything, sugar, milk , toast and tea and at one point the young girl waiting on was upset when guests asked where their breakfast was, so much so that we gave up asking for more toast, an eat out the next day. we would not reccomend this b&b to anyone, as it is like faulty towers.also no sink in the room, no glass to use in the bathroom to rinse mouth after brushing teeth, and had to ask for clean towels. safe to say we will not stay there again, although the staff were pleasent.

The pub is nice from the outside, white exterior, with black paintwork in two terraced buildings.

I visited in May, before i made proper notes, but the bar staff were friendly and indeed, the ladies were attractive (yes i know that's sexist, but its the truth). The beer itself was reasonable - sadly, i cant remember what i had, as it wasnt MILD, which is clearly a dirty word in Yorkshire.

Sadly, the experience was somewhat let down by what i thought was a meeting of the Filey Hard of Hearing Men's Club (equally sexist), the three members of which seemed to need to shout to each other in building site fashion, despite being at the same table.
