Old Boots left this review about The White Bear Hotel
A plain and unpretentious pub at the bottom end of the Market Place next to Bedale's notoriously bad road junction. Basically T shaped and open plan, decorated and furnished with bare boards, tiles and carpets, upholstered benches, wooden tables and stools. The long arm of the T houses a pool table, dart board, juke box and big screen, décor is a few football shirts and a racing silk. The rest of the bar has a sitting area with another big screen and the counter running towards the back. The set of five pulls with three in use serving Yorkshire beers from Theakstons, John Smith and Timothy Taylor plus the usual kegs. The cask was extremely cold, so much so that my pint had thrown a protein haze, the taste was fine though after it warmed up a bit. Friendly enough place popular with younger working men but maybe a little masculine in style and décor for the ladees.
