An A-board outside the front door describes this as the Real Ale Hub of Wymondham (pronounced Wind'm), and they're not kidding. There were two banks of hand pumps, my photo showing five beers on one set, with a Brew York milk stout sitting alone on the other. The young lass who served me was very friendly and accommodating, and sympathised with my dilemma over three beers describing themselves as Blondes: Oakham Inferno, Lacons Legacy and one called Crafted Conservation Turtle. (I normally swerve blondes as they seem to denote beers that are bland and sweetish, though occasionally I have drunk one or two with a bitter finish.) I went for the Turtle, as the brewery name intrigued me, but it seems like not a lot of others had agreed with me on a Wednesday lunchtime, as it was slightly warm and getting a little tired (NBSS 2.5), while my Moon Gazer Pintail was better than good (NBSS 3.5). I thought this was a really lovely pub, with various different architectural styles enhanced by considerate refurbishments, and an enthusiasm for cask beers - see their Facebook account - that one cannot but applaud.

This is a large pub with beer garden and is situated in the centre of town. A very inviting looking pub, but once inside it lacked atmosphere, the bar was positioned in the middle of the pub and the deco was bland. There was also a large room set out for dining on the right. I found the manageress to be impatient and favoured her regular customers, rather than any visitors or newcomers. Two ales on handpump, Woodfordes Wherry and Old Speckled hen.
