A handsome Georgian fronted former coaching Inn in a commanding position in the Market Place of a farming village in mid Norfolk.
A suitably grand column guarded door leads into an irregular shaped hall: a small dining room to the right, the bar to the left. Blasted and polished beams, bare bricks, distressed furniture and tasteful paintwork. Behind the central serving area isa further space with comfy armchairs, backed up with a raised dining area, which I did not explore.
Part of the Norfolk based Flying Kiwi chain, the White Hart is arguably more restaurant than pub,but it was as the latter that we visited late on a June Monday lunchtime.Food was still being served, and we joined a mainly middle aged group of customers. Our burgers-beef and lamb-were attractively presented, and seemed good value. On the bar were three beers from Jo C's brewery, together with Lighthouse from Adnams. On the fizzy front were various offerings, including Adnam's own Dry Hopped Lager. My pint of Knot just another IPA,while not stunning, was a servicable, grassy dust settler.
Behind the pub is aninviting looking garden, which was busy on our visit. The welcome was cheery, and we'd return here if in the area.
