Corner pub in a residential area. It has bare boards and large windows overlooking the streets on both sides. There was a TV in the corner. Dogs are welcome are were very much in evidence on my Thursday evening visit.
On the bar were 3 cask ales - Otter Ale, Exmoor Wicked Wolf & Oakham Citra. Keg beers included Adnams Mosaic & Beavertown Neck Oil. The cider was Aspall's. Some kind of happy hour was mentioned on a blackboard. Food is served, with pasta nights on Mondays and Tuesdays.
This pub featured in the Good Beer Guide in 2024, but there are so many better pubs in Norwich than this.

Lurking in the midst of 19th Century terraces, it’s more than a bit gastrofied. A former corner pub no doubt with multiple bars, it has been opened out to a single room round the two sides with a dining room behind at the right. The area to the left of the central entrance door is a drinkers enclave, the L shaped counter being entirely in this part. Here you find a set of three pulls repeated on the other counter face, there’s a slightly different national keg choice on the two horseshoes on each face. A rather mundane choice of casks with Woodfordes Wherry, Adnams Ghost Ship and Adnams Southwold, although I wouldn’t fault the quality at around 3.5 NBSS. There’s a profusion of blackboards advertising an heated courtyard and an upstairs bar & restaurant where you can celebrate your marriage. A GBG 2024 listed pub but not much pubby atmos. Prices obviously above average but not by too much although single pricing regardless of strength is a bit off.

Backstreets neighbourhood local on the outside, single room gastropub inside. The bartop offered a choice of 3 ales, all East Anglian, from Oakham, Grain and Moon Gazer. I opted for the latter's Jumper, which I found to be a good quality best, though served up just under a pint. A couple from Adnam's provide an alternative to the usual Amstel, Madri etc on the keg taps.
The food seems to be available all day, for which I was thankful on this occasion. Overall, it's nice enough but, if you're doing the pubs, it's not really worth a visit for the beer alone, so I think I'd recommend The Unthank if you're in need of something to eat along with a reasonable pint. Unless you happen to be locally-based of course.

This large traditional Victorian pub gets a great following for their food. We called in the evening and the place was very busy with people dining. There were two ales on the bar Woodfordes Wherry and London Pride. The Pride was in good nick and the London Pride pump clip fitted well with the pubs colour scheme as the walls are painted red. I think on our next visit we will call early doors as the smell of fish all round the bar from one of the diners put me right off.

The Unthank Arms is a nice looking pub that is set deep into the back streets between newmarket road and unthank road.
Once inside there was a fairly large L shaped room with the bar facing on entry, the room had bare boards with lots of tall stools facing the windows, there was a dining area to right with tables laid out.
There was also a large garden to the rear of the pub with lots of picnic tables.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Wolf Golden Jackal and this was a very nice drink, the other beer was London Pride.
I found this pub a bit hard to find, but it was worth it as i quite liked having a drink in here.
