On doing a bit of research about Norwich pubs, the Artichoke kept cropping up as one I should possibly try. It's a distinctive landmark building that you will probably pass when heading to Norwich's many other real ale pubs.
We didn't get to see much of the inside, as tables were all reserved for later drinkers. So, we were sat on tables at the front overlooking the road.
That made finding out the ale range difficult. We were provided with a paper list. But I wasn't sure how up-to-date this was. Five Points Micro Pale, Golden Triangle West of the Moon, Anarchy Hit The Hills & Three Hills Black: Forest (Cherry). With the Micro Pale being 2.8% and the BVPAK being 10%, there was an interesting range of strengths. The real cider was Turner's Rhubarb.
In addition, there is a fantastic selection of craft beers, on draft and in bottles and cans.
Of course, I had to go for the 10% imperial stout, which was very nice. But it perhaps wasn't one for a lengthy crawl like ours.
Whilst I was disappointed not to be able to go inside, I would certainly like to return, as this place is clearly and up and coming pub, which is attracting a fair amount of interest.

The Artichoke is a distinctive looking pub that is situated just to the north of the city centre on a busy road junction.
Once inside the pub seemed smaller than it looked from the outside,i had a drink in a smart room that was comfortable, there may have been other rooms but i did'nt look.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Woodfords Wherry and this was a decent drink the other beer was Greene King IPA.
