The White Horse has undergone significant changes recently under the new ownership of Anglian Country Inns.
Fortunately, the group doesn't do identikit pubs and there aren't any giveaways as to the new ownership aside from the WiFi.
The pub is a traditional, Grade II listed, Norfolk stone and brick building which has been stripped of it's previous blue/grey paint. Outside there is now a large courtyard area to the front of the pub and a lawned garden to the side.
Inside is a cosy, L-shaped bar area and separate dining room, it's definitely a gastropub vibe which is borne out by the menu and the knowledgeable and friendly service. There are interesting bar snacks detailed on a board by the bar as well as the main menu. Everything is made on site with as much sourced locally as possible. We tried a couple of the smaller dishes and they were excellent.
Beers on were Woodfordes Wherry, Taylors Golden Best and Moongazer Cheeky Jack which was as good as ever. A decent, if small range with two local brews. The usual lagers are on keg alongside, the rather good, Woodforde's Tropical IPA.
I liked it here and can easily imagine tucking up in the bar on a winters day or sitting in the courtyard on a sunny day as we did. Decent beer and good food to be had at the end of a long walk by the coast. Ideal really.
