This pub in the village of Langham was the first of several rural Norfolk pubs where drinkers are made to feel like second-class citizens. Only diners are allowed inside.
As the winter approaches, this will effectively become a restaurant that serves beer, as opposed to a pub serving food, as it will simply be too cold to drink outdoors. Presumably, most if not all drinkers will gravitate elsewhere.
We were allowed into the pub to visit the conveniences and to settle the bill. It was extremely frustrating to find spare tables that could have been used by us (and others). Even a couple waiting for a room they had booked were made to wait outside in the cold whilst it was made ready. No self-respecting hotel would make their paying guests do that, so why would a pub/restaurant treat people in this manner?
There were plenty of people inside enjoying Sunday lunch. The pub also had a couple of real ales - Greene King IPA & Beeston Worth The Wait. But this was a disappointing experience in all.
