I visited in March when the pub was still operational, though it had an unprepossessing look, not helped by the barricade of customers' cars blocking the pub as seen from the road. (There is a car park but it's a little walk away at the quay.) The original building has been added to at times, with a dining room in the extension to the left and a small beer garden to the right. The interior has a listing on Camra's heritage pubs site, and there was some nice original wood panelling in what was the public bar. My half of Woodforde's Wherry was a little tired, which is not surprising when most customers are arriving by car for something to eat.

A surprisingly good country pub, whose tatty exterior belies the gem inside. There is a small snug on the right as you enter, and a much larger L-shaped floorboarded bar and carpeted dining room. Dogs were very welcome, biscuits and water supplied on entry. The staff were very engaging and there was a relaxing atmosphere despite the annoying 1970s disco music. We didn’t eat, but the food looked very good and was reasonably priced. There were paintings on the wall for sale. Ales on were Woodford Wherry, Adnam’s Ghost Ship and Winter’s Golden Ale. I had a pint of the latter which was perfect. I should very much like to come back here to eat and have a few drinks when time is less pressured.
