Strongers . left this review about The Market Tavern

The Market Tavern is a long and thin pub with red carpet throughout. There’s a front bar area with standard and high tables as well as access to the bar in the right rear corner. A couple of steps climb to two rear parallel seating areas separated by an internal wall, and the serving counter continues up the right-hand wall where three or four locals were sitting during a recent Tuesday early evening visit. Standard keg was available alongside Amstel and Doom Bar was badged on the lone hand pump on the front bar, I didn’t note if more ale was available, but there were heavily advertised shot and cheap double promotions. Other than some low background music, there was little going on and I found it to be a boring high street chain boozer.

Graham Coombs left this review about The Market Tavern

A pretty typical marketplace pub, popular with shoppers and featuring cheap, no-nonsense food. The front area is fairly open, with most of the action taking place in the central bar area, with a slightly-separated tabled area extending along the side. It could possibly do with a bit of renovation, but seemed popular enough, and did at least offer Courage Best on handpump which seemed in tolerable condition.

A good lunchtime pub right by the busy Market square so very popular with tourists
enjoyed a couple of pints of Suffolk Aspel cider sat outside.

Friendly place, carpeted throughout. No real ale. Serves food all day. Has seating out the front, so you can watch the action in the lively market.
